Velvetene – Seashore Paspalum

Velvetene is a Plant Breeders Rights registered variety of seashore paspalum which has a similar texture and density to the finer green couch species. The leaf has a waxy coating giving the appearance of glistening bright green, shiny lustre with a velvet soft touch.  

Velevetene  is ideal for:

  • Residential and commercial lawns – for a formal appearance
  • Parks and gardens, nature strips where salt conditions are a problem
  • Full sun to partly shaded areas

Maintenance information for Velvetene

  • Requires a minimum of 6 hours of direct sunlight daily
  • Mow every 2-3 weeks at height of approximately 10-12 mm during summer
  • Mow every 6-8 weeks and raise mowing height to 14-18 mm in winter
